Just read the whole post so far and I must say that thats absolutely amazing... truly! You must be completely mad, but its just genius :D

Lets hope your a good enough driver lol

What events are you hoping to use the car in?
I'm hoping to enter the Toyota Sprint series with my almost standard ST205.

Thanks for sharing all the picks and progress.

The car is being built to MSA/FIA regulations so it will be eligible for the Dunlop Motosport News Saloon Car Championship, the Castle Combe Sports and GT, the AAA Saloons as well as sprints and hillclimbs.

As to whether I'm good enough to drive the car properly that remains to be seen! I shall try hard to avoid the scenery  I've dusted off the Formula Ford for a few outings at Castle Combe so that should help blow the cobwebs away before the Four takes to the track next year.

That sounds great.
I'll try and follow how your doing in a series when you enter then :)

When the car is finished, do you know what she is intended to put out and what the final weight should be?
And another question, sorry, have you decided on wheels and tyre choice yet?

Hope you have a website that people will be able to follow you on, if not let me know ;)

Northern Sports & Saloons, annual roadtrip up to visit the SMRC massive @ Knockhil. You know it makes sense...

I've never driven Knockhill but it looks like it could be good fun particularly in the FF1600 :)
Regarding weight, I'm hoping to get the Four down to around 1150kg or lighter. GRP doors, tailgate, wings and polycarbonate windows should all help. The seat only weighs 4kg so that's a big saving.
The wheels are Rays TE37 forged, weigh 7kg each and are very strong. I was lucky enough to pick up a secondhand set for £500. They cost around £500 EACH per wheel new  Tyres depend on the series or championship I decide to enter but the suspension can accomodate full racing slicks as well as track day tyres like Toyo/Yokohama/Dunlop.

A few more pics from the track toy build. This time the race engine has been installed in the chassis and the fit of the IC and water rads. Turned out that there was a 10 degree mis-alignment but this was sorted by slightly tilting the rads.
Please note this is only temporary to check the fit. There are still some significant work to do on the engine install. e.g an Accusump plus oil water bypass of the notorious 'interwarmer' donut affair on the front of the engine.

Next step is to work out the wiring.....prior to the shell going to paint

Don,

Firstly very nice - I love it when a plan comes together..
I know it is only a mock-up but has consideration been given to fatigue and thermal expansion of the rad/IC at mounting points? Looks like it is all solid mounted.

IMHO they really need to be resiliently mounted - give me a nudge if you need some rubber doughnuts ;-)
