bit of an update as some of my know i have bin getting over heating problem and it looks like it is the head lifting under boost, and the other thing i have now got is oil vapour smoke out the air filter :( and to add to that my oil pressure seem to be very low :?

But now we have some good new I have just checked the oil pressure with a Snap-on oil pressure gauge and all is well, at idle I’m getting 20psi and as soon as I rev the engine it goes up to 50psi so it is just my gauge or sender to the gauge
just been out for a spin with both the cam breather and idle valve pipe disconnected and I’m still getting oil vapour smoke out the air filter so I’m guessing it can only be the turbo seal on the cold side :( so its turbo off and send it back to TT and see if that will fix it under warranty as I have only had it 6months and done 600miles on it. not retorqued the head yet doing that Saturday so fingers crossed that will sort the head lift and my over heating

What head gasket and bolts/studs did you fit? What was the torque?

Was the head skimmed, block decked?

using ARP bolts a Cometic Metal Head Gasket 1.4MM. ok so we did a retorque of the head today and then did a sniffer test and all is good :) so its juts get the turbo back to TT and hope that fix it

ARP bolts or studs?

What torque did you use?

Did you use the moly compound supplied?

Good stuff regarding the studs... can't find what I did mine too, I have it filed somewhere!

I used a 3 stage process, gradually increasing the torque applied to the studs each time

Louis,

probaly the same "staged" torque procedure that you recently cut n pasted from a thread on mr2oc by noshoes and in teh workshop manual

Image

eg go round in sequence all 20 / then 40 / then 65 , back off and do it 5 times etc
