It does look like you might have got away with it.

The blowing seal and 9:1 ARF would explain the coking on the crowns, why was it mapped that rich though?

Are the valves badly coked as well? If they are you are going to want to get them clean as the carbon will glow once the engine is running and be initiating points for det.

Is it just the one rod bearings that has gone like that though Louis? As it might suggest oil supply problems, and probably wouldn't cause an overall rise in engine temps.

What condition are the main bearings in?
Anything to suggest that the oil pump might be struggling?
Do you monitor oil pressure?

I know what you mean TT said the same thing to me that it was oil starvation or foreign body witch I did say to them how can that be as the engine and turbo had 2 oil and filter changes in 600miles :? it is just a get out clause they seem to use all the time, the only thing that I can say that might of not helped is the engine had over heated 2 times and nearly got into the red on the stock gauge. I do know of a few people using the TT turbo and not had any problem. and if I remember right they are the only people that make the balancing machine which they sell to every turbo company. but like you I’m now thinking I should of waited and saved a bit more and got a Garrett but at the time I was trying to keep the cost's down

these are only a few photos my enginer has sent me ill be poping up ot take a look saturaday and take some more pics and haev a good look. as for oil pressure yes i have a pressure aguge and all is good when warm the oil pressure is at about 50-60psi, like i said i did have a problem with over heating and i was getting hydrocarbons in the water this is why we took the head off to have a look and this then showed that the head was warped nere no2 and no3. we will be doing a full decoke of the vales, as for the rich 9:1 ARF we dont know why it wnet like this, the only thing we can see is that the manifold to turbo gasket was leaking and the turbo to downpipe was leaking to so this woul of given a fauls reading out the exhaust to the lamber probe when it was maped, and when i replaed the turbo i replaced all the gasket and thats when it stared to run rich and show rih in the a/f gauge

Personally I would only use MrT bearings for road use. You can get them in an assortment of sizes so you can tailor the oil clearances to your requirements. They also have the copper backing which can give you a get out of jail free card if you here them knocking early enough.

Sorry to hear your woes though mate. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Check the clearances for the big ends with plastigauge - I think it's the only way to be certain you have the correct bearings fitted...

Are the journals smooth on the crank? You may have picked up a little of the bearing on the crank journals if the bearings were too tight.

Hello Crossy

Sorry to hear that you have had problems with Hybrids
my own experience is that not all are the same.

Upon Martin Kingston's advice I purchased an AET hybrid which I have been very happy with.

After removing my head for a 2nd time (1st due to coolant leak and overheating) to remove and repair damage when supposed Ebay Hyrid turbo shat itself, the AET unit has been good for 15,000 miles or so.

Hoping to get Apexi power fc fitted together with 550s' and AFPR this week
and then allow Ryan from 2bar to do his bit.

Stephen

i taped up the bonnet scoop

witch seem to have made a big differenc ;0 the temp when croosing at 60-70mph were down to 80-85c so ill be making a nice blanking plate to cover the hole as it seem the with it open im geetting back pressure on the engine bay witch is stoping the air coming throw thrw the rad.

my other little mod i did to day is my nice new header tank

not bin out in it yet to see if thinks make much chage to the temps but wil keep you posted
