Hi guys and girls !
Were can i find new seals for the calipers/brakes to my mr2 turbo gen 3 -1995 ( I think the st205 have the same brakes) .
Toyota here in sweden is not cheap . It´s cheaper to buy a new caliper than repair the old one.

Hi,
I don't think that the MR2 does use st205 calipers. If memory serves me right they use the 2 piston calipers from the ST185

Bits should not be expensive though. I recently purchased a complete rear caliper rebuild kit direct from Toyota. This contained 4x seals, 4x dust covers, clips and new hydraulic washers. Cost was £25 before discount. I'd expect the 185 front rebuild kit to cost the same sort of money......

I think brakes international do a kit but i'd rather go with toyota. You could always look at buying from the uk if possible

A bit of toyodiying and EPCing shows that it does not even use 185 calipers. Seems like the MR2 turbo uses MR2 specific calipers

EPC shows 04479-17020 as applicable to SW20 turbo and Nato/Europe SW20 between 89 and 95
Chassis codes
JT163SW20.. SW20L-ACMZFG 12/1989 - 12/1994 SW20 G CP LHD 3SGE TWC MTM 5F
JT163SW20.. SW20L-AJMZFG 12/1989 - 07/1999 SW20 G TBR LHD 3SGE TWC MTM 5F

Price listed on toydiy (which ties up with the price I paid for my rebuild kit) is 44 euros so I'd expect to pay 40-50 for the kit. Doesn't seem that expensive so maybe Toyota Sweeden are pulling a fast one?

I know that the mr2 turbo got new brakes 1991. Mine is a japan import 95 known as generation 3.
Anyway in Sweden toyota takes about 66£ for seals for just ONE front caliper.
I need the seals for the front.. the back ones I have found on ebay .

ps did you say "swiss" .. isn´t that switzerland ? not sweden....
Don´t know anythig about gt4 meeting here..
Just japmeet but that it every year, exept this year ....

Are you sure that price is not for both calipers

When you order that part number 1 kit does both calipers. Still seems expensive though, unusual for stuff to be cheaper in the UK than Europe!

Here's the parts list reference
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1995_T ... _4705.html

certainly not ST205 spec and according to EPC not ST185 spec either

I know you're in Sweeden
Just wondered if you might be going as it might be a chance to get someone to pick stuff up in a cheaper country ;)

okey !
Yes the price for the seals is for ONE caliper .
there´s only one seal in the caliper thats is damage so the piston is a bit of rusty .. (wont move back after braking )

Aha you ment that way.. no I won´t go to swiss .. no travel in europe at all this year more than cyprus 8)

I though Sweden was the most expensive country in europe at least in "car -things"
IF you find any thing at all.. here in sweden is hard to find somethings for japanese car. I buy everything on ebay.com and ebay.co.uk .
And my car is righthand driven like yours but here we have lefthandrive so it´s a bit of complications everytime i go to toyota for parts.

If the piston is stiff and rusty then you'll have to replace that as well

If you can mesaure the seals I have a few old ones left over from rebuilding mine. If they happen to fit they're in good order and yours for nothing

I also have a couple of pistons but one is rusty and would need refinishing - if you know someone who can do chrome work it still may work out cheaper for you if it happens to be the right size

Somehow I have a feeling that 205 bits will be different though

Also, you might try a message to GTSChris on UK eBay. He breaks a lot of MR2s and may have some useful stuff. Shipping may be expensive though :(

thanx for the offer ! but if you say that it maybe not fit .....
I live in sweden so it´s not cheap to ship it here. If it don´t fit i mean.
The piston moves but not so much like the other one and it won´t go back so much so the pad is loose. I don´t think the piston is so damage .. i think it just need a new seal and realy good cleaning.maybe a lite polishing...

Anyway .. I mailed one guy (there is only one on ebay.co.uk) about the seals .. he had only the back ones for mr2 on ebay.
Thanx for taking time and answer.. I will e-mail the adress you gave me.
Kind regards Dennis - Sweden
Hope you all understand what Im writing!
