driving my st185 gt4 today and reaching 3k approx just as boost was charging up it cut out does this in every gear am i right in thinking this is the fuel cut defender and if so whats the best way to get round it

How do you mean it just cuts out? Does it jolt like ur hitting a wall?

yes engine managment light comes on then goes off

It does sound like fuel cut do you have a aftermarket boost gauge or boost controller on the car?

Do an error code check to confirm what the fault is.

On a 185, once boost cut has happened you need to reset the ECU otherwise it runs a safe mode and boost cut triggers at a much lower level.

On a 205, boost cut automatically resets and normal operation re-commences after a few seconds.

could also be knock sensor fault, this triggers at 3K RPM but just retards ignition and limits boost doesn't cut completely.

ok had a new knock sensor 6 months ago hasnt been on the road since
