Not long got me a 185 but I have come across some issues. Nothing too serious, I hope.

Firstly, I had to adjust the timing as I noticed it was running at 5deg and had to lower the idle slightly. I have noticed now some pinking at low speeds when warm. Any Suggestions?

Secondly, I have a random rumbling/wheel wobble. It feels like I have a bulge in the tyre as the vibrations rattle through the car. It happens every so often but will stop if I pull up at a junction and it wont happen again for a few days.

Any help would be appreciated

Did you bridge the pins in the diagnostic connector when setting the timing?

Could be a sticky wheel caliper. Does it vibrate at all when you brake?

Yeah I bridged the E1 & TE1 pins.

I have noticed recently a whine when I pull off in the mornings.

What intercooler do you have ? (air - air top mount, water top mount or front mount conversion.)

Does the standard boost gauge on the dash work ? I have known people disconnect the pipe to turbo pressure sensor to prevent boost cut, it also prevents the ECU retarding ignition with boost.

Is it an import or UK car ?

What fuel are you running it on ?

MAP sensor has no control over timing on a 185 it is purely there for boost cut.

All fueling and ignition is controled by the AFM and temperature sensor...

My experience is different, namely a 185 detting it's *bleep* off until we re-connected the turbo pressure sensor. This was an RC, maybe the a-a ecu is different.

Everything is standard on the car, its a 1990 Jap import running on standard unleaded so 95RON.

Try it on decent fuel. The map imports are supposed to run on 100 octane fuel. Probably why it had been retarded a bit

When I first checked it, it was running at around 5deg BTDC. Perhaps I should put it back and see.

Either 5 deg. and 95RON or 10 deg and Vpower. You may find ecconomy better with latter option.

Re. your comment about whine when cold, would be worth checking oil levels of gearbox and rear diff.

The noise is definitely coming from one of the wheels. I think I may have a dodgy calliper.
