yes the bolts work fine but i'm not sure on headgasket. I know work is involved to fit the 205 head on a 185 block so assume the reverse is true

the turbo oil and water feeds are also slightly different on the 205 block. There's a water feed on the rear of the 205 which you'll need to block off

i believe teh 185 has that odd arrangement with another feed coming off somewhere around the heater hoses

Either way it's a good gotcha

I have got a st205 Gt4 block coming i hope i can put my old cylinder head on! Are the head bolts from the 205 block in the right spacing as the st 185 block?

I know the HG fits as I'm running a 205 in my CS but I don't know if there is an issue with valve clearances, may be someone else might know that answer?
Just as a matter of interest have you changed a HG at all recently? My big ends went very soon after I replaced my HG and it seams to be a trend with the 185s. I was lucky enough to catch it early so it hadn't marked up the journal, I was able to slap in a new set of shells and away I went, quite a quick job to replace the big end bearings on 185s. Might be a worth just checking the journals if it saves time and expense. Dorris

I'd do a leak down on the top end and if it's all good I'd grind/repace the crank. Not very expensive and you'd know the bottom end was good. You would also have a known good block as it's not cracked yet and you've just tested it too with the leakdown!

No issues. The 185 has a 1mm gasket, the 205 a steel 1.2mm gasket (as standard).

Wasn't sure if the lift was any different on the 205 from the 185 that's all, aren't the piston crowns different between the two? Dorris
