sounds like a plan Don! i'm going to price up some camber plates to try an make the job somewhat easier for the next battle!!

to be fair, the crush tubes from Mr T are only about £3 each at full whack.

You should ahve used the 6lb SST, not the 4lb one ;)

Everything on the 205 suspensionn seems to be a pain. I've lucked out on the front end so far but had to remove the rear toe adjuster bolts with a "press" and the trailing arm->hub bolts with a drill and cold chisel with the hub on the bench

"Nigel, I have many spare banana arms if you get to the stage of damaging or destroying the ones on your car you are welcome to a couple".

Cheers Don That's very kind I'd be more than pleased to take you up on the offer I cant see any way either can be saved now. But would the banana arm rubber bushes (link end) need changing? Or perhaps more importantly can they.... without buying the complete section?

Cheers Nigel C. :)

BTW tcb seem to price the mushroom mounts at about 5 squid should I order yet ?

I'd go ahead and order the 'mushroom' mounts from TCB if that's what they call the crush tubes. You'll need them anyway if you remove the banana arms.

I'll need to dig out what I have and check their condition. The first opportunity I'll have to do that is next Sunday so I'll report back then. Watch this space!

Hi folks, Just to update following sterling effort by Mr P Staurday am "Batmobile" is now all figure-eighted-out again and takes to bumps and curves again like a duck to water.

Round 2 !! was in the end not quite the battle expected primarily by pulling a flanker on all Mr Ts efforts to keep all joints held together by... (Peters idea) removing the subframe assembly complete with all the suspension attached. Worked a treat.. not to be recomended as a roadside job tho.
Once exposed necessary parts are much eaiser to remove and the replacements fitted to the subframe, with the crushtubes just dropping in as per factory fit for the banana arm replacement.

I have taken an idots guide photos and will get them posted here via a more compentent member after I e-mail.

Anyways from watching.... the experience I have learned apart from the necessity to have all the right tools, pullers, splitters, etc. is that anyone comtemplating fig 8 replacement (particually if it is the first known time) would be try to establish that the ball joints can actually be prized apart from their mounting plates prior to arranging for or completing the work. If this not possible have available servicable banana arms and replacement mounting plates to enable completion via Peters route of removal. This could save potential time off road in an MOT failure situation.

Cheers.. and a most happy Nigel C. :D

Great series of pics Nigel and thanks to JP for hosting :D

I trust you have had the wheel alignment done? You can destroy the front tyres very quickly if you do a few miles without the wheels aligned.
