Hellooo

I think I may have a problem with my dump valve.

It's a standard one. The only way i can describe it, is as a wet farty sound, when i let off the throttle quickly, after booting it.

It has gradually got worse over the last couple of days.

Has any one got any ideas on how I can test it and make sure that it the DV thats playing up ?

Many thanks :D

Well they don't really have much to go wrong with them. Stock ones have, however, been known to explode so it's worth giving it a visual inspection

When you look you'll see a sort of flying saucer thing which is the main part of the stock DV. This has a visible join in it and it's this join that fails, particularly if you are running increased boost

While you're poking around check the vacuum hoses. There should be 2 connected to the DV itself which should join together via a one way valve to s singe vacuum connection coming from, as I recall, the inlet manifold.

I like broken stuff - you can see how it all works when it explodes :-)

The membrane splits.. the DV on my car went the same way wet FARTY sound...... not good.

No way of repair. Use as good excuse to get that extra slice of bling with an external item. 8)

Mine started making a moaning sound approaching 0psi vacuum. I just disconnected it assuming oil had got in to it or something from the chargecooler.

Soon to be replaced with an HKS effort.

I am glad I ran across this thread. My car makes a noise, that I liked the sound of but now I wonder if it could be a malfunction.

When I am in a low or no boost situation while cruising every now and then I hear a sound from the front of the car that sounds like a quiet version of the Tie Fighter from star wars.

I don't really want to get an expensive replacement if its the issue, but I am going to have to look into something.

If you only get one type of noise then something is definitely wrong :D

I get
<0psi lift-off ->Darth Vader breathing
<~4psi or slow lifts -> some crazy mexican with maraccas. Possibly being chased by a rattlesnake
<12psi -> The ptish of the dumpvalve accompanied by the mad maraccas mexican who still hasn't gotten away from that rattlesnake
1 bar+ -> The boowooowoowo of a garbage truck beings chased by maraccas mexican and enraged rattler

Not to mention the knife in the garbage disposal that is the twin plate, the screech of tyres and scream of passengers
