An oxymoronic title I know!

However, it currently seems true of my car. The last tank of BP Ultimate (for convenience reasons!) has now gone 353 miles!

I know it's been warm and all I've done is mway miles but even so that's about 80 miles more than normal  and nearly a 33% improvement in mpg   .......I fear something broke lol

I’m so glad this post has come up, I too have noticed the same :?

My car runs 220 to 240 miles per tank (It’s been like that since I’ve had her & I know out of all of us I suspect I have the worst fuel economy for such a mild tuned car), 2 weeks ago something happened & at 220 miles I was just under half a tank, I thought that my gauge/sensor must be wrong so I filled up... I could only get 35 litres in

On this tank of fuel I again am just under half way according to the sensor & the mileage is at 210 miles.

If it is correct that means my car has gained 40%ish fuel economy :D :D

Amazing!!!!

I haven’t used BP fuel for about 9-10 months now only the Shell rocket fuel

I've noticed that higher ambient temperatures improve my fuel mileage too so if you drive like a granny then good figures are possible. I almost fell off my chair when Mike mentioned he'd got over 400 miles from his tank  .....until he mentioned that this was with his diesel Corolla

maximum that I managed was 380 miles travelling at constant 75 mph and on 800cc injectors, power Fc etc. typically i get 250 in the winter & 300 in the summer. I had tried to lean out the cruise cells on the map - havent got ropund to doing it again on my current map though.

I have been hammering the autobahn recently and have managed 180 miles to a tank of 100RON Shell V-Power. Not really bothered about the cost though, it costs me £45 for 100 litres of the stuff

On a fresh 205 swap into a 185 I am getting in the 200 mile per tank range. 15.9 gallon tank. I am wondering if maybe my O2 sensor is bad or something.

My RC is getting circa 230-240 miles per tank (64 litres for a fill). It is far far cheaper to drive the M3! 340-380 miles for 57 litres.

That'll be a freshly built engine, cams and some headwork then...

I think my O2 sensor might be going bad or something. I have a RC final drive, and a much larger rolling diameter so my fuel economy should be improved. I am sorting out the O2 in the other fuel thread.

So an update. I can get 15-19 mpg depending on how I drive. Turns out us and uk have different mpg rating. My high end of 21 is equal to your 22mpg. I have gotten 25 by your standards one tank but it has been cold and I have a heavy foot.

Ouch! that's pretty low mpg figures unless you have a lead foot. My ST205 averages around 25mpg with normal driving but this drops noticeably if I start pushing along using the performance.
