Help Help!!

My gt4 st185 has developed a boost problem, as in, it dosent boost, i was driving down the M27 to pick up some bits from Terry T, went to overtake a vectra and nothing, except a high pitch whistling noise, and NO BOOST!!!

fiddled around a bit, and still nothing, it sounds like a typhoon under the bonnet, in fact it sounds like a police siren!!!

Any ideas or suggestions?

Oh i managed to get to 2.8 psi on the way home, amid lots of whistling noises!! any ideas please people?

Also HUGE thankyou to Terry T for 1) a lovely cuppa tea, 2) the prop shaft, 3) his help with trying to fix the boost outside his place!! Cheers mate, top stuff!!

Have you checked the hoses? The outlet from the turbo and more commonly the throttle body rubber splits :(

Good news is that the thorrle body rubber is pretty cheap ~£20 if it is that.

I would check the most likely and cheapest things first prior to assuming the worst.

ok, have checked all the hoses, and took it to a mechanic, who works mostly on jap turbos........................................
and i have utter shagged my turbo!!!
I have less fins on it than a tin of tuna!!
More shaft play than a seesaw!!
More holes in the case than swiss cheese!!
More of a oil problem out of the seals than iraq!!

Oh bugger.....................

Plus side though, i think i have managed to source a turbo (second hand) from a place called JAP-PARTS £364.25 delivered... is this good?

Ben - have you got any pictures of your turbo, sounds liek they could be interesting!

The price for a turbo seems a bit high to me. Fensport can supply a 185 turbo from £200 + vat iirc?

Hey Ben, no boost, welcome to the cheap reliable world of motoring.

Rog.

1598cc NASP, 9k red line and 180 bhp... :D :D :D

P.S. sorry to here your bad news, I dont know a massive amount about 4's but I'm sure I have never heard of a turbo breaking like that before, was there a oil feed prob or something.
