Hi Guys,
If any of you remember me i'm the numpty that attempted to salvage a money pit of a GT4, but it seems now is the time i must admit defeat. Im not sure really where to start but i will give it ago. Theres a bit of life story in here too but the bottom line is some advice on course of action would be appreciated.
1 and a half years ago the car was actually running (after a pretty comprehensive rebuild) it ran it in fine and it went back for final mapping. For whatever reason this didn't get sorted very quickly and as we progressed towards winter i just said leave it till new year (2012)
In Feb 2012 my ex partner at the time (i'll get to that later
) wrote off 16k of BMW 123d coupe under the influence, as a result we got no insurance pay out and had to stump up the balance (circa 10k) to BMW finance. A traumatic time to say the least.
With no car, the Celica needed to be working and fast, mapping commenced and i did have a dyno graph knocking on the door of 400bhp on the power run. There were some final tweaks that needed to be done so i was planning to pick it up the week later.
During those tweaks... supposedly he turbo let go (probably the last remaining component from when i bought the sodding thing!) Still to this day i am unsure whether there is actually any deeper issues with the car than the turbo.
With no more money to throw at it i halted any work till further notice. So it sat untouched again....
Trakwerks (the firm that have the car) got some really bad press during the tail end of last year. After reading it i decided that i would be removing from there as soon as i moved to somewhere i had space to work on it myself, or it could just sit there till i had the money to get someone else to take it on.
I moved with my (ex) partner into a house with large enough drive in Nov 2012 and as soon as we were settled i planned to get the car moved up.
In January 2013 after nearly 3 years together we separated (not nice circumstances but you don't need details) I end up moving back into my dads house and there isnt room for the car here...
3 weeks ago i got a call from Trakwerks that they are selling up. I have some time as it wont be for a couple of months but basically i need to do something about it. Like i said i wasnt willing to give them (not that i have any!) more money after what i have read.
Theres lots there. What would you do in my shoes? I personally think its time to move on, im not bothered about making much money back on it, just need to draw a line under it now and move on, but how do i go about giving it a value?
