Congratulations to Seb Loeb on winning the Drivers Championship. Looked like the atmosphere was a bit subdued after the tragic events on Rally GB but entirely understandable. Lots of tributes to Michael Park in evidence.

Good to see the Impreza had a bit of pace this weekend due to tweaked suspension. Cruel luck for Solberg to crash out on the last day whilst holding the lead. The 'rock' he hit was right in the middle of the road so he had no way of avoiding it travelling at high speed. It was actually more like a small boulder and one wonders how something that size could suddenly appear after the course cars have been through the stage. Maybe the Japs have been taking lessons from the French fans on the Col de Turini stage of the Monte Carlo rally! (They always throw snow onto the road after the course cars have passed through  )

Great consolation for Prodrive Subaru to see Chris Atkinson win his first WRC stage and eventually finish on the podium in third place.

Marcus Gronholm looked as surprised as anyone that he'd actually won with the recalcitrant Pug 307.

Eurosport also showed a clip from the prodution class with Natalie Barratt rolling her Mitsi Evo three times after sliding wide on a tight right-hander. At least she was OK and walked away.

Looking forward to my trip down to Oz next month for Rally Australia :D .....the last time it will be held in WA

Don - you never fail to surprise me with the volume of depth you have about motorsport in general.

Is this an opportunity to label you with the "geek" tally?

Some race action pics would be great :D

Kris, I think I qualify for not only several anoraks but also several thermos flasks as well.....but try and not spread it around!

I've got some good pics from my last time at Rally Oz which I'm happy to let you load up on the site.

Agreed, Don. I don't see how that could have happened accidentaly. The boulder was right on the racing line in a spot where Petter couldn't possibly do anything about it. Like you say he wasn't the first car through and I cant believe another car could have moved it there by mistake without taking heavy damage itself.
Maybe someone in Japan really doesn't want Subaru to succeed. Or there's a Petter Solberg fan who loves long hair
