Well it’s that time of year for the car insurance renewal.

When i 1st insured the jap import with direct line it was in theory
Standard just..

With their new policy increase of 50 % i decided to cancel and look else where.

Direct line quoted last year £242 fully comp, protected no claims, legal protection etc, etc.
This year £484 for same policy, so I told them to go forth and multiply.

Seems that the jap import has an increase in the policy premium, that’s just not sport..

Contact sky insurance spoke to Scott, found him to be great, rang back within 5 minutes as promised.

Got a quote for all mods declared, with some that have not been fitted yet?
like for like.

5500k for car, protected no claims, legal protection, windscreen, etc. policy premium £540

have others used them, if so, what they like, any good..

thanks for reading

Jon

IIRC Skye and either HIC or ADrian Flux share the same underwriter. Skye just takes less out of the deal and/or plays with some details if Insurance companies do that kind of thing :-)

I went with Sky purely on price - service is fine - no better - no worse than others. I dont know what it woudl be like in teh event of a claim :-(

As you say Jon - the combinatio of Jap imprt and mods frightens off moist insurers - seems oinly 3 peeps will still quote me now :-(

I think Flux use NIG primarily for their insurance.

I have found Flux to suit me well, being the best on price I can find...

But everyone is different and it may take some ringing around to get the best prices :(

Sky seem to be popular with modded/jap cars.
Mine is still stock at this time so elephant were best for me.

Any of you out there got cages fitted?
If so, who is underwriting your insurance?
I have been told NIG, my current underwriter, won't cover cars with a roll cage.

I had few punts around but in the end went with flux all mods declared
and ended up with £420 inc european cover limited milage of course, but very pleased with that.

What I could not get was track cover. So assume that would have to be arranged on meet by meet basis?

Any other peeps do it that way?

Also think Don has had experience of Flux claims which went ok perhaps he can update on that.

Cheers Nigel C.

I'm with AON Classic insurance now :D ...never been insured with Flux and I don't insure the Four on track as its not worth it. Its value these days is in the tuning parts not the chassis and I'd probably be able to salvage the majority of the parts if the worst happened.

HIC do cover roll cages.
I had a very productive conversation with them this afternoon.
The excess is very high (£475!) but it does include free trackday cover and like for like on declared mods.

Not sure how up to date this still is, but I was given this a few years ago by another car enthusiast.

Personally I have insured thru Flux for the last couple of years as the premium was a good price, but his might be useful for someone?

I ended up with Sky following a huge proposed increase from DIG. They not only were cheaper than DIG but cheaper than my old policy which was expiring. They were happy with my mods too which is nice.

Not had to make a claim yet but no doubt time will tell :o
