I know Mike was asking / expressing an opinion the other day... seems the answer is yes! http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/A4_Report.pdf |

Check it at your own car. I did that thing with standard unleaded fuel and with Shell 100octane vpower racing. I did it couple of times and in my case it's not true. High octane fuel is more engine friendly but it is burn faster at high rpm, so there's no chance to do more MPG at hi octane then standard UF, unless someone drive like an old lady. ![]() Testing car was ST185 with 1.1 bar boost Regards, Paul |

I found it was better in my Rover, got about 280 to a tank full of normal 95 ron but the Tesco 99 ron would give me about 305 to the tank, worked out cheaper per mile. Have to drive the car in the same way though, which can be hard as the motor is smoother and more comfortable revving more on the higher octane stuff, so chances are you'll drive a little more on the gas with it ![]() |

It agrees with my findings too ![]() Although I'm still suprised Thorney "Top Gear Garage" motorsport is so sold on teh Tescos ullage. Even the Mundno runs better on VPower although it doesn't have knock control so maybe it's not agressive enough to use the extra RON |
