It's nearly that time again :)

A few of us will be making the annual pilgrimage for 24 hours of sleep deprivation

Myself, TTSnore and Meurzzzzzzzzzz will be slumming it in Maison Blanc while La-di-dah Siriusly is living it up in a nearby hotel with his mate Comfy Matt-ress

For those that are packing smartphones a couple of useful looking sites

Offline at the moment

Possibly a provider of the hourly update reports - don't know how timely they are during the race

Autosport this week confirmed what Mike mentioned to me last weekend. The ACO are seriously concerned at the extra pace of the revised long tail spec exhaust blown diffuser Audi R18 so they have allowed the petrol hybrids (Toyota) to run with a 3 litre increase in tank capacity. Doesn't sound much but I guess this might mean they can do an extra lap per stint. The Audi is now a gas guzzler running the new power levels so maybe they will equal out on the swings and roundabouts. Lets hope so!

Bizarre Batmobile look on this hydrogen fuel cell technology demonstrator. Unfortunately it has been withdrawn from the 2013 event and the following statement has been issued:

The Green GT H2 has been withdrawn from Le Mans as it is not ready to compete. Whilst testing of the car started a few weeks ago the team has decided that it would lack the required reliability “The GreenGT H2 is already showing great potential and has great scope for improvement. However, the complexity and cost of this unique model requires the use of extremely rigorous methods and very time-consuming new procedures” explained Jean-François Weber, Managing Director and Head of R&D of GreenGT. “We are only at the beginning of this adventure, and it is essential for us not to cut corners and continue the development of that highly effective demonstration of hydrogen technology which is the GreenGT H2″.

The car will be used in demonstration runs later in the season.

Innovations developed for the GreenGT H2 prototype:

1. Powertrain with a differential torque function (patent pending).
2. Powertrain incorporating a twin engine and electric converters.
3. Specific lubrication for an electric gearbox designed for low operating temperatures (patent pending).
4. Centralized control of electronics and high power currents.
5. Fuel cell: air loop without humidifier.
6. Piloting of the fuel cell air supply by electric turbochargers.
7. Integration of the hydrogen supply system, including pressure reduction, filling, thermal and mechanical safety functions; retractable with its removable hydrogen tank.
8. Thermal control of the fuel cell.
9. Operating mode and control algorithms for power of engine and fuel cell without a buffer battery.
10. Specific instrumentation and dashboard for electric vehicles.
11. Analysis of failure modes and development of safety countermeasures for electric vehicles.
12. Separate control of electricity supply for power and command functions.
13. Safe integration of electric power components.
14. Wiring, switches and connectors specific to high power electric vehicles (> 400A and 400V).
15. Safe Kevlar-Nomex housing for electric power components: protection of occupants and service personnel.

Word on the street from @rcracing (Nick Damon from Radio LeMans) seems to imply Toyota had a long tail at the test day

Some pics of the new Toyota TS030 at Le Mans today prior to the pre 24 Hour test tomorrow. Difficult to tell if it is longer. Going by the last pic in the series below it looks plenty long enough!

Radio Le Mans (www.radiolemans.com) is carrying commentary on the test day from 7.45am Sunday morning :) No live video stream though :(

I noticed that in the Dailymotion fixed video stream of the pit straight but wasn't sure if it was a video overlay or a bizarre French erection!

I believe Steve also suffers from these at Le Mans, typically he can be found hand standing in the cubicle in the mornings.
