Ok we have a plan - I will update more fully later on this evening but the camping is booked for the night of the 4th May. So we can go to Haynes on the Saturday or the Sunday which ever suits best.

The campsite is a bit further away from the museum than I hoped but it should make a nice drive.

The campsite is in Cheddar - this is a really nice part of the world and also has plenty to do on the other day.

Please can people confirm that they are coming - I have booked for 8 people - perhaps optimistic but we shall see :)

I'm in for weekend incl. camping.

Lewis & Alex will come up after work Saturday (probably be up about 5 or 6 ish) and will be camping.

Sounds like a good day. I will bring a barbie, someone else can supply the non combustible wood and array of screwdrivers

Probably too late to grab Dons gazebo but worth borrowing JPs folding Barbie if possible

The campsite allows open fires so I was thinking of cooking old school!

Steve, hope you weren't planning on using the lemons tent for this meet? It's lovely weather for camping here in Perth today, mid 20's and sunny for the next week at least. Doing it tough down here in Oz ;-)

Its perfect weather here too. Sunny and mid 20s forecast for at least the next week

Then the alarm clock went off

I don't need the tent but I was thinking if I bust out Kimi and bribe him with fresh trout he could probably retrieve the garage keys from the house for me - or maybe just fall asleep in the kitchen

Ok so here is the full plan:

Saturday 4th May 1-2pm - Meet at Chew Lake Tea Shop:

http://www.bristolwater.co.uk/leisure/chew-valley-lake/chew-valley-tea-shop/

Google Map: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.350464,-2.613051&ll=51.350021,-2.61127&spn=0.011056,0.027874&num=1&gl=uk&t=m&z=16

Plan is to have a natter and then head off for a drive around the nice local roads taking some photo's on the way (if anyone brings a GT4!).

Popping through Cheddar on the way to the campsite and maybe stopping for an icecream if the weather is nice and to collect some beers / cider from the ale shop in town.

Then head to the campsite and setup camp:

Cheddar Camp - http://www.cheddarcamp.com/page6.htm

Google Maps - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=BS25+1RW&hl=en&ll=51.306526,-2.776923&spn=0.022134,0.055747&sll=51.350021,-2.61127&sspn=0.011056,0.027874&gl=uk&hnear=Shipham+BS25+1RW,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=15

Pitch camp - get a fire going and then drink beer!

With regards to food I was planning on cooking on the fire - I have lots of camping cooking gear. Please feel free to bring your own food to cook for dinner :) Otherwise there are takeaways in Cheddar and pubs etc.

There are some pubs within walking distance of the Campsite so we can visit one if we want.

In the morning I'll get some rolls and bacon in to cook breakfast.

We will then set-off when ready for the drive to Haynes which should take about 40 minutes.

Look round the museum - probably grab some food as well then say farewells mid afternoon.

Let me know comments and questions :)

There seems to be a lot of un-necessary fluff between
Meet
and
Drink beer

I will still bring the BBQ - last time I used an open fire the frying pan melted

I guess you like your bacon crispy Steve! Smelting your own frying pan is going too far though.....

Well some of us need to work up an appetite and thirst first! :D

It looks like the weather might be a bit chilly and possibly showers on Saturday so make sure folks bring warm clothing.
