Just checking is the rear diff oil GL-5, or is there another type that can be used, was looking on Opie, not sure how much I need. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1016-red-li ... 0-gl5.aspx Any advice as too how much it takes to fill the diff? Thanks |

I use Castrol Hypoy 90 in my rear diff. Has done over 100k miles with that oil - changed 4-5 times. |

Yep - that looks to be the same stuff although the name has changed. The figure in the manual is 1.1 litres annoyingly. The diff doesn't get 'filled' as such - the gears rotate through the oil which sits at the bottom. Although clearly at speed that oil is going to be everywhere! |

2nd piece of advice is don't get it in your hair when overfilling it on the car. It stinks, makes you gag and its easier to shave your hair off than wash it out. |

I had to order a few other bits including rear drop links and the Oh so pricey (proportionately) brake pad shims from TCB, turns out the sell all the ST205 oils too-genuine Toyota stuff. I always forget how much gear they have in stock. Anyway thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll try Hypo out at some point. |
