Ok, here goes... My a/c has never worked in my car. All it ever did wax flash the a/c led (fault). So I decided to get her regased.
This did not fix the problem, so I bought a second hand working unit of ebay (yeah right!!) I regased the system again (as when you change the pump you loose all the gas) and when I turn on the a/c, the 10amp fuse pops (heater fuse) so, I decided to be a bit braver and put 15 amp fuse (in case some thing was seized and needed a little push. pop again, so last try has a 25 amp fuse (NAUGHTY ME) and the the fuse held out and the leds on the heater panel stayed on as did the a/c. Problem is there is a whiney noise coming from the pump followed by a smell of burt clutch. OFF, straight away and put 10 amp fuse back before I forgot.
What would be my chances of getting the pump off and disasembled to unseize the clutch bit or bearing? Anyone else done it before? Are there any service parts available from toyota for the pump (compressor)
