^^^ ![]() ![]() ![]() So please edit the links, and either remove the IMG tags, so we can at least click on the links... or make sure that you haven't ticked the box below the quick reply box where is says x Disable BBCode in this post From what i can remember about the ST185 fuse box: # The 2 x fuses HEAD are for left and right headlight motors # The RTR fuse stops the head lights from retracting # If the fuse box cover shows the relay as HEAD then i would also assume that it operates the headlights aka Headlight relay. do you have a sleepy lazy eye head light kit or similar ? Have you a copy of the ST18x toyota repair manual in pdf? |

Relay should be for the headlights... so probably going to need that lol and the grey plug looks like the water temp plug if you earth it the gauge will go off the scale.. temp switch is just a thermal earth, hotter it gets less resistance to earth an higher the gauge reads.. |

Been thinking about this, my car isn't close by at the moment so cant look there. Coolant temp is a 2wire switch im sure and is on the water outlet by the dizzy i think grey? There is also a brown connector and poss a green one, i forget. From the manual..... ![]() The only other switch i can think of in that area that is single wire is the oil pressure on the end of the head just below the Interheater. ![]() Spotted this in my sad day thread. Does the car run or have any electrical faults to speak of? |

Ok Mate, I've been reading a post called " Over Fueling" is that the same problem? It kinda jumps from here to there in a very random and unhelpful way. lol A wise man once told me several things that will always hold true when fixing anything. "Knowlege is the Key to Power as Information is the key to success" "To find the route too Evil, Retrace your Previous Steps" These are not particularly difficult engines to work on in terms of complexity, they just arent that nice! With that in mind some of the steps towards information will be missed as they are a pain in the *bleep*... For the purpose of Knowlege, that information has to be attained to return the power. SO INFORMATION.. 1 before the head gasket was changed how did the car run and start. in short, did it exibit any of the faults it has now? 2 When changing the head gasket, did you encounter any problems. Plugs, wires, pipes etc you didn't see that had to be taken off mid head removal. Anything that may have gone back in the wrong place or gotten left off. 3 is there anything that you thought at the time of repair, you may have damaged or broken. 4 after the work was done did the temp gauge work, did the oil light go out, did you have boost, did it start clean, run well and did the cooling system bleed properly and the fans cut in. I think once you have thought about the above and are happy with the above and have this INFORMATION, you need to clear your mind of what you think you already know and start again! Maybe even make a list and stick to one path and dont skip steps. Through this ive assumed you did the head gasket? If you didnt you need to check everything, there are no loose connections, wires in the wrong places, pipes off, pipes or wires trapped that are causing issues you dont really have and masking ones you do. I.e. the plug you have which doesn't look like the coolant temp but you said it affects the gauge? Find the source of code 22. briefly Bridging the connector pins of the coolant temp connector with a paper clip should sweep the temp gauge from cold to hot. Was it at idle when it backfired and rev'ed or did it backfire at speed the rev at idle etc information my friend information. |
