I presume you mean this end of the banana arm?

Given the nature of the suspension movement this rubber bush shouldn't be replaced by a polybush. There won't be the required compliance if you fit a polybush here and the NVH is likely to be worse too.

One end of the banana arm has the ball joint in which can not be replaced. The other end has the rubber bush in. TCB and a few others do sell a polybush to go in here.

Its not something I would entertain doing.

Is there anything wrong with the existing bush? If there is then its likely that the other end will have failed and the arm will require replacement.

I'm surprised that polybushes are being offered as replacements for this OEM rubber bush. Perhaps the manufacturer think there's only movement in one plane? On my track build we have fitted spherical bearings (aka rose-joints).

Agreed. I think they are being offered simply as some people will buy them, similar to the rear hubs where two of the joints shouldn't be polybushed - you can still buy them.

thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback. I would like to learn more about the rose joints, size joint to buy, how to install it and all related details. My current bushin is torn so badly i can push the wheels forward and backward when the car is parked. i really need to get these fixed asap. the rose joints seems to last very long.

I can't see why polishes wouldn't work for that joint if correctly specified. They will still offer some compliance.....

Tracktoyfour's rosejointq setup is quite different to stock and isn't something you could easily replicate. Plus rosejoints are not really suitable for road cars without serious protection from the elements

A common mistake is to think the rubber part of the joint has failed when in fact it's the metal centre part moving in the chassis. This metal part has an inside diameter much bigger than the bolt and is normally held in place by a combination of a fragile 'crush tube' plus friction between the subframe parts by tightening down the bolt.
Failure of the crush tube joint is common, and once it's happened the movement quickly wears away the subframe and tube ends making it weaker and prone to failing again. The correct solution is remove and weld repair the subframe and fit new bushes or arms. The common solution is to fit 'uprated crush tubes' which will not give like the standard ones.

I wouldn't recommend a poly bush - fit OEM if you have to replace the banana arm

If the Mcpherson controll arm is positioned the same as the superstrut, and the bushes are the same size, you would had thought we could use the bushes for the supersstrut rite?

Jamaica! No wonder you are having to be inventive with your parts supply

You don't get better advice than this.

It can be done but its quite involved and you typically end up with issues with the standard brakes not fitting. Probably best to start a new thread if your serious about going that route.
