Hey guys,

I did a search but couldnt really find the information i was after.

Anyone know how difficult a chambelt swap is on a ST205? Whats the going rate for a garage to do a 205 cambelt and waterpump?

I've done cambelts before, so i assume i can just drop the exhaust from the downpipe, remove the frame that goes right under the engine with the mount on it, undo the drivers side mount, remove the drivers side driveshaft and drop one side of the engine?

If im correct about the above, can you also replace the water pump and oil pump easily enough this way?

I have had a rattle coming from the belt area for a while now, but i dont think its the cambelt as i removed the alternator belt and the noise went away (i think). So i've changed the alternator and tensioner pulley and the noise is still there. So i believe its the ac pump.

I ran the ac pump on a 1:30hr drive and now i seem to have a kinda whine/humm sound that goes up and down with revs.....

Cheers guys

Difficult - no more so than any cambelt in theory

Great stuff! Thanks for the guide!

The job looks pretty straight forward, but with winter on the way i think i'll pop it into a local garage to get it done otherwise i'll have to do it outside in the cold

Cool stuff dude.

LOL yeah i went BMW for a while but im back up to my old tricks playing about with Toyotas again. Was thinking about doing a cambelt/water pump change and possibly replace the bearing in the AC Pump pulley assuming i dont remove the AC system.

Drop me a PM with how much your after to do it :)

BTW hows your 185 coming along? I havent seen it out the back of Octagon so im guessing you finished it off?

Diceman - Pics below ;)

Yep i used to take it to the Reading meets. But no i dont own it anymore im afraid.

I sold it to a guy from Ireland who took it over there with him, but its now back here in the UK - not sure where though!

I'd love another MK2 but they just rust so badly! Constant struggle to keep it on the road lol

Nah, ST205 every time :) As reliable as a swiss army knife :)
