Hello,
need an advice from UK guys.

My freshly rebuilt turbo is leaking oil like it has never done before... so this August European Celica Meeting is gone... at least I'll do it with my Caddy...

Problem is that is the fifth Italian Turbo rebuild company I tried without success.

Is there a VERY GOOD company in UK that can rebuild my Garrett based hybrid ?

Thank you.

Hi Wolf,

Seems that mose of the rebuild companies do well and then at some point don't perform so well...

Some suggestions that people have used with some success are:

Turbo Technics
Turbo Dynamics
Owen Developments

Why are the Italian companies finding it so hard to repair your turbo? After all it's JUST an oil seal! Are you confident there is no underlying problem with the turbo?

Wolf, I have used turbos and superchargers from all three companies that Kris has listed with no problems. Owen Developments who I'm using for my track project rebuild the turbos for WRC and Group N rally cars and do a lot of work for the Irish rally guys so they are used to dealing with long distance customers.

Hi Kris,
I know it's just an oil seal!
But the fact is that, as any other part of a turbo or of an engine, you can do a properly done job, controlling all the clearances, and with the needed calm to avoid signing the seal, or you can do a bad and fast job, because you have so much turbos to do in a day:
I think here is the point.

This is why I'm building myself my engines, and you bet that, if I had the machinery, I would even do my turbo rebuild!

This turbo was made twice (same company) because it pressurized my crankcase:
probably they didn't change all they had to, or they used crappy seals, or they didn't check correct shaft clearances and play.

I'm just tired to loose time with people that is not going to do HIS job in the way it SHOULD be.

Thanks Don & Kris,
I think I'll go with Owen, then...

Suggest you ask to speak to Mark Harrison at Owens and maybe mention my name

Good luck!

My vote would also go with Owens. I have had a fair chat with Mark and they certainly know their stuff. With Owens you can actually speak to MArk who is the guy with the knowledge. IMHO Turbo Dynamics are not great on teh technical side. Some of their products suck IMHO. Turbo Technics design is also very good but you just can't natter top Mr Kershaw about your reireents (or I have never managed to!) I suspect Mr Boyack has been invited for afternoon tea :-)
