I took Mel to meet an ex colleague on Saturday.

He's now started up his own business in body repairs and is a total magician with fabrication, prep and paint.

We discussed the job but I need your thoughts on removing the rear side windows and the tailgate window to do the job properly.

The side window rubbers don't look too bad, but the tailgate rubber looks more like a 2 part epoxy it's so hard and brittle. (I'm sure it's not 2 part epoxy, just a 26 year old seal)

Are these seals still available guys n girls?
Cos there's no way that tailgate seal is going back in. So it might be a masking job and black touch up where the "seal" is chipped.

Any help, experience, or stockists would be gratefully received.

I have approached TCB in the past for quotes.

Thanks for the info Darryl.

Out of interest, are you part of TCB? Or perhaps you just had the details to hand as you've recently replaced one?

It does seem strange to read the same thread on two different sites - but you got the same answer :D
I think you were hoping to get it sorted this coming week. It's a big dilemma deciding whether to get a windows out paint job done, I have been pondering similarly with my CS. I'm not confident though on finding a bodyshop who will reproduce the metallic grey paint as good as the Toyota original paintwork. A pair of wings I had done a couple of years ago had way too many reflective particles in it, so the end result was too light and looked awful.

The decision is made, the job is underway. The guy I'm using works from a small independent garage in Shardlow, Derbyshire. Just outside Derby.

We used to be colleagues where we were both employed on rail locomotives and rolling stock. He did a few colleagues cars in his spare time. The results were amazing. But now he's gone full time self employed. I can't recommend him enough. I'm assuming you're near Cheltenham? Might be a bit too far for you, but look up "Rhinos repairs" on Facebook to see the work Richard does there. Don't think you'll get a better job or fairer price.

Images to follow when mine's completed.

I've just seen this post and it's reminded me that I haven't followed up with the amazing results.
I'll get some pictures and details on here next week!

A VERY LONG week indeed.

My lovely wife Glenda has been having treatment for secondary breast cancer in 2 vertebrae of her spine.

We believe that it is one of the cancer drugs that has taken about 80% of her sight almost overnight. There is no negligence claim on clinicians, but I wanted to go after the drug companys. The fact is there is no hard evidence to support what we believe.

So its been a pretty rough few years, just coming out the other end and getting back into enjoying the Celica again.

Off to Cadwell Park Sunday as a show car at they're "Club Classics" event.
I'll get some pics when she's show ready and post them on the day.

She looks great and all the window seals (except the rear quaters) were available from TCB.
