Never thought after smoking for most of my life , and giving up for 5yrs and then starting again (foolishly) that i would be at this stage again :). Its going well , and today was a big test for me as i spent the day in the company of keith (brother) who smokes frequently, at the third round of the BTCC at thruxton circuit . After standing beside him and smelling the aroma , breathing in the fumes , i can honestly say....YUK :( . I smell as if i've been smoking , but i've not even had the desire :)

Thanks guys , apart from the obvious health benefits it means a saving of £50-£60 a week , which in turn means a bit more to spend on the four :D.

Well done.
Erin went from marlborough lights to roll ups as cost was astronimical.
We had a agreement that she was only allowed to smoke after sex but the realised that meant 2 *bleep* a year :(

Neither steve , after some discussion with my counsellor it was suggested the best way would probably be a course of patches , consisting of 3 steps/strengths and taking each step down as and when i felt comfortable :). What can i say , after going full on cold turkey the first time and not really wanting to go through that again this has been so so easy in comparison . Its still early in the process of course but i'm more than pleased i can be around smokers and actually not crave one :D. For the cost of one perscription the whole course is provided along with the counselling and other aids if needed , my advice to anyone considering it is, try it , you have nothing to lose and an awful lot to gain .

Out of interest, are there ANY smokers who actually enjoy smoking and don't want to quit ? I'm not sure I've ever met one.

So ended up back on the cancer sticks :(
I'm now trying Socialites Zero's http://www.socialiteszero.com/index.php/

Yes there are moments when I do enjoy a cigie so it makes it very difficult to quit completely.

I would like to quit for health reasons (apart from the obvious breathing, tasting, it's also because of what will be @£200 worth of dental work).

Congratulations, fellow ex-smoker!

When I did smoke, many years ago, I resented the government's efforts to 'encourage' people to quit... But I have to say now I can't think of any good reason why anyone wouldn't. Yes, I have become a smoke-Nazi!

I think most if not all smokers have enjoyed the habit chris , i mean if they didnt why burn money ? For most though smoking eventually catches up with you , lets face it you are slowly poisoning yourself and as time goes by that is bound to have a detrimental effect . Yes there are some who still deny the now obvious risks associated with smoking and they will continue no matter what , it boils down to attitude and perception really . Its taken me far too long to get where i am now but after a few weeks feel so much better for being here :).
