Well I was out and about with the camera and the 500mm ( as you do) today and the Red Arrows are flying near us so I pulled over and got some shots, will upload them as they go up as the files are rather large and taking a while to upload... but I managed to get one pretty much of the pilots, hello Mr Pilot man! :D

Thanks! Got loads more just not uploaded them yet.

it wasnt particularly easy in the dull light as they were going pretty damn fast but in the probably 10mins tops i stood there i took 587photos. haha

Machinegun fire with a very fast focussing lens is bad on your HDD. haha

10 mins, 600 shots....pffft. Did you stop for a tea break?

Even my ole 6d will do 3 pps and TrackToy's water cooled, belt sdcard fed rig would probably result in Warthogs trying to hide their GAU-8 guns out of sheer embarrassment

Cracking pic though. It looks like the wing would have given you a good haircut

haha, yeah they were circling etc so i had plenty of break times, fired off full throttle on passes. :D

Shoots fast enough so i managed to get the whole barrel roll of one of them which i shall put up in a bit. :)

Cheers for that, they did fly rather low, i would say even as low as probably two times a normal 2 storey house so with it on 500mm and then add the Canon crop factor totalling 800mm it was pretty easy to get a up close shot..... but pretty hard with how fast they were flying!

I am suprised they don't hit anything though they go so so low I never actually realised it till paying full attention today like

Yeah giving it all the big guns like, was spectacular to watch even if it was a miserable, pants, dull day.

They are only low resolution copies too so the full file look rather good viewed at 100 percent too.
