Post subject:  To Roof Scoop, or Not to Roof Scoop? That is the Question!

As my rebuild project I am thinking about fitting a roof scoop, I havent fullly made my mind up yet, I am still in two minds.

I quite like this style

But what are the pro's and cons of having one? I dont want to fit one to find it whistles in the wind at speed, or lets rain in etc.

Has anyone had one.....has it had issues, problems.

Any comments gratefully received, help me make my mind up one way or another. :confuse:

Comments offered with no experience what-so-ever! :)

I would say don't. It might look rubbish, it might look rubbish if its not installed nicely.

I'm not sure that it would offer any tangible benefit over opening the window - are you planning on fitting fixed windows with sliding openings?

I considered a roof scoop in my track toy but decided against it because of the risk it would leak in the rain and add more drag. For ventilation I may fit ducted fans which are available from Thieves. The Nissan R35 GT1 uses them so it its good enough for them.......et.

it depends what the overall look your going for is. I personally feel that anything short of full rally spec look would be abit daft. Did I see on celica club that youve been playing with the big lamp pod too??

maybe its time for the big ideas reveal! :D

I have a roof scoop going on my track car.
However, as my 185 was a sunroof version (subsequently removed) I am able to use the drainage hoses/vents to channel any rain/water that may get in.
Basically the roof and scoop setup has been custom built/installed.

The one pictured above has a drain tube sticking out the rear. You slide a hose on it and feed that somewhere outside.

i prefer the look of the car without the scoop.

then again, it all depends on what you like to do with your ST205 ;)

my way of seing it, if it didin't came with the car, they don't put it.
every inch of the car was purposly desinged, every curve of it, for one great reason that we love. RALLY :)

but she is your baby and for that matter, you know what you want :)
