Post subject: | code 42 |
hi all. I've been getting a code 42 code as you know. I've changed the speed sensor but still getting the bloody code. speedo is working fine and doesn't seem to miss a beat. could it be a faulty converter on back of the dash of do I have bigger gremlins? any advice or suggestions greatly received... gav |

Unless you are sitting for 10 seconds just revving in neutral I'd suspect the converter |

On a 205 the signal goes from sensor to dash then out of the dash to the ECU. If you have the converter before the speedo and the speedo works then it isn't the converter. It is possible the converter is between dash and ECU to remove the speed limit, but then I'd expect the speedo to read in KMH unless it's had an alternative face fitted. |

standard face with the k blacked out. could it be a broken wire between the converter and the ecu? this car it's killing me. l |

It's pretty common for converters to include a speed limit remover too meaning the Speedo drive and ecu drive are different. There's also the possibility of a stand alone speed limit remover. Need. To do some poking about |
