Not often i don't understand stuff. what other manual are available have Australia & Europe, nothing for Jap import, my uk st205 matches Europe... sorted..easy job like the RC / CS over the uk or jap 185 ... they have differences.. umm, but covered. we all know that the 205 dashboard is connected via 3 plugs .. simple 10 way grey , 13 way blue, 16 way white.. simple so why... In EWD-30 the 13 way is A, 16 way is B , 10 way is C YET IN BE-4 & BE-5 16 way is A 10 way is B 13 way is C also europe wiring is slightly different from australia both off which are slightly different than the wiring in a jap import.. any insight any one... thanks |

Hmm, as you say DJ, to me does not seem to make any sense making different parts for essentially same dash unless you have to. The only thing I coudl possibly think of (and not having a wiring diag to hand)... is anything to do with wiring of steering column stalks - is that part of same section of loom? It is very un Toyota like to re-maniufacture a part with a different configuration unless it must be that way. For reference what are EWD-30 & BE-4 & BE-5?? If they are diff manuals for diff countries then which ones? I wonder if there is a difference in early Uk and late Uk too as steering column stalk config changed. Can't offer any real answer just guesses at possibly reasons. |

My UK spec ST205 'M' reg had the indicator stalk on the JDM side. I didn't realise this until Mike and Steve pointed it out. Their UK spec ST205's were later production examples 'N' and 'P' reg had the indicator stalks on the UK side. It confuses me no end when I drive the Patrol as despite being manufactured in Japan it has the UK switchgear ![]() You would have thought that Toyota would only do one loom for the lot like they use the same plastic mouldings for the switchgear from mide 80's ST162 through to late 90's ST205. Logic doesn't seem to apply. At least I've managed to harvest all the various ECU pinout configurations that I need ![]() ![]() |

When I swapped a JDM rear hatch for a UK rear hatch on my first ST185 there was already a connector on the loom for the high level brake light that came on JDM and not on UK so Toyota do try to use a 1 part fits all where possible as far as options are concerned. |

an attempt to make it clearer pages from.. RM399E section EWD30 RM399E section BE-4 Europe RM399E section BE-5 Australia Connector as per BE-4 & BE-5 B-10 way not as per EWD30 BE-4 V BE-5 as per RM399E ![]() AWD-30 as on RM399E ![]() BE-4 & BE-5 , note connectors A B C ![]() ![]() makes sense,few years back a member installed jap dash into a uk car or the other way around ,he had problems. |

okay since having backward engineered a wiring loom from a jap 205 import that neither of the above wiring diagrams for europe and australia totally tie up... umm that explains much.. since understanding that the toyota workshop manual rm399e awd30 & de4 & de5 is incorrect. subsequently when test installing a digital dash that was configured as per electrical wiring diagram in the manual it did not operate in the intended way. would be very interested if any one has an applicable wiring diagram or diagrams that are different to the ones posted above..thanks some of you will no doubt think that I am off my head & yes the continual use of pain killers is taking its toll, even under hazy cloud rest assure I am correct.zzzzzzz example of the least important ones ![]() european & australian diagram 13 way connector pin 5 is for engine oil level sensor, on jap import not used, un important to some , but useful if you want it. 10 way pin 1, europe & jap import not used, australia 10 way pin 1 is fuel sender.. ![]() 10 way pin 5 Europe ground,Australia ecu g, jap import not used. it get much worse on more critical areas. ![]() Any wayz thankyou for input, everything that original dash has + more is now functioning on digital dash.. one other thing did not have this problem on the 185.. ![]() |

Seems strange some of the deleted parts on different regions. UK = oil level sender is supplied in sump. Is not present on JDM vehicles. Seems they prefer to monitor cat temperature instead! Afraid I don't have a wiring diag for a JDM St205 |

its a better way keeping emissions in check knowing what cat temperatures are . TT coupe 3.2lr 24 valve runs 2 o2, 2 wideband , for a quicker warm up and better emissions they blow air into the exhaust manifold reducing warm up time some what.. probably more to go wrong, makes using engine & brain and all ancillaries for a conversion more of a challenge fitting it all in.. ![]() |

I've never understood why JDM ST205's have a catalytic converter temperature sensor and the UK ST205 has no cat temp sensor but all the Exhaust Gas Recirculation gubbins. With the JDM setup its just a passive temp monitoring device that does nothing to reduce emissions unlike the UK which does. Does anybody know if the JDM cat temp sensor thread is the same as a lambda sensor? |

the cat temp thread is smaller in dia & pitch of thread, something like m16x1.25 apposed to m18x1.5 i think will check for you later Don with actual sizes .. its been a while.. |

Thanks DJ, I had a feeling the cat sensor was smaller ![]() |

cat temp sensor thread 14mm x 1.25 o2 /wideband 18 x1.5mm the cat temp probes can be a real nightmare to undo , plenty of heat and lube. |

Yep, mine looks really heavily corroded into the downpipe so I'm not sure it will ever come off ![]() ![]() |
