having installed the dl1 data logger configured all parameters , felt it rude not to do a few dyno runs, not bad for a 152k mile old ST205 with stainless system , cat ,oem air box with washable high flow filter , running 9 psi showed around 210hp @ road wheels.

My jap 185 running 9 psi , fmic , oem ecu , showed 187 hp using the same logger @ road wheels. :)

hopefully have knock sensor connected up shortly, see how noisy the ST205 is.

Is that the DL1 software used for analysis Jon?

Still trying to figure out something useful for PFC log analysis, have now moved away from absolute power and on to simple drpm/dt analysis as the maths is sooo much simpler

Steve it's RT analysis latest version full of features, probably one of the best parts is sensor setup/calibration variable tables.

RT when used for power runs factors in gps ,wheel speed & rpm & two accelerometer's, making for an all round picture ot torque & power.

Having weighed the car, inputed gear rations, rolling circumference of rubber, etc etc should be good, the wrc wing under 50 does little, @ 140 does a lot this is picked up.

going down local RR for a quick dyno run sometime soon to cross compare & brush up on my dyno skills.

Could be some interesting results DJ. Would also be interesting to compare against the 1/4 mile terminal speed logging & calcs.

I would expect the DL1 logging - calibrated to 1/4 mile terminal speed calcs to provide the most accurate output. Or maybe the quarter mile results would in fact screw up an already accurate DL1 result!

How do you work out Cd co-eff and frontal area for input to the DL1? Is it similar to the budget range where you work out drivetrain loss & drag by coasting from say 80-20MPH?

I am really liking the look of this DL1 - maybe we need a club DL1 appeal to fund one pmsl.

If you are off to see Mr Jan Speed & his dyno - see if you can get a predicted/guesstimated flywheel figure :-)

Nice info as always. off to look for demo of DL1 software......

Jon, did you wire in the DL1 to the OEM ST205 ECU pinouts OR have you replaced the ECU with AN Other programmable?

I think the Britcar championships mandate the use of the DL1?

For anyone interested in reading more about this the link is: http://www.race-technology.com/dl1_2_27.html

Don still using stock oem ecu for now, will install emerald soon.

hooked dl1 to a few sensors, dl1 is isolated no issues with oem ecu sensors it seems.

a few externally mounted sensors.

charge cooler input from k probe via amp
oem air box sensor
hooked lines to to ecu,

rt sensor configuration custom variables to suit voltage over temp conversion for output readings.

have more sensors to install, making hardware fit into place is the timely part, somethings you just can stick a sensor in with making a sensor housing, its the water temps in the 4 quarters of the block is waht i am after.

coil hardwired twisted pair
gm 3 bar sensor for logging

not got far removing decat ,after a few studs snapped, now means manifold & turbo off job, being a real basket, the worry will be how many man to cylhead studs snap off , the studs and nuts very rusty ran out of time, will leave unitll i sort what turbo to use.

using oem o2 sensor output via custom variable ,makes for an interesting afr output reading, nothing more than an indication, long live the lm1, once manifold been dropped can use widband again.

my variable table for o2 lookup

any suggestion for better voltages for known afrs welcome.

volts afrs
0.1 17:1
0.2 16.5:1
0.3 16:1
0.4 15.4:1
0.5 14.9:1
0.6 14.4:1
0.7 13.8:1
0.8 13.2:1
0.9 12.7:1
0.985 12.1:1

you can over lay gps map over gps log data, all in all the dl1 is a very stable unit, just a shame it don’t have 50 inputs.
