Just wondering if any memories go back far enough for 165's. How do twin entry turbos cope with being fed from a single entry manifold ? Is there a big loss of performance from the bridging section, and is it damaged by being exposed directly to the hot gasses ? Alternatively, going Garrett, the 165 has the oil cooling in the turbo feed which is highly restricted. Would the answer be fitting a 185 oil cooler ? |

You need to talk to Mr Grumpy @http://gtfours.co.uk/ he was the authority on ST165's, as was, iirc, Steve Gilly (sp?) |

I don't like the idea of using a twinscroll turbo with a single scroll manifold but I'm struggling think which factor will be dominant: - 1) the high velocity of the air would possibly squirt all the air down one side of the scroll, it'd be like running a turbo with half the A/R. 2) the backpressure in one-scroll as above would force the additional air down the other but force it to change direction and lose energy/create heat. If it were me I think I'd do anything but fit a twinscroll turbo. Turbo Technics S148 or a Garrett GT28 based setup if you're keeping it low power. Sourcing good (not cracked) CT26 single scroll exhaust housings is a PITA. |

would you be interested in a Greddy TD06-20 with manifold, wastegate & screamer? |

For now I've stuck with the standard 165 turbo just to get it running and on the road. There's a reasonable chance it'll get a newer engine before I start going for bigger power then the problem goes away. I have a good low wear 185 block plus forged pistons I had earmarked for my 185, but with values having gone up so much I'm putting that back to standard(ish). |
