Post subject:  Dump valve problems on my 185cs

Hi ya guys i wonder if any one can help me i fitted a sard R2D2 dump valve to my 185cs, and i can't get it to dump. I've read that there can be problems with 185 and dump valves, so if any one has any ideas that would be great.
Cheers

The issues with ST185's and dumpvalves are mainly around fueling. The valve should operate regardless.

Have you plumbed in the vacuum line correctly? Which line did you use?

Well with out sounding like a plum, i'm not sure a couple of mates help me and they have fitted quite a few to other cars and they seem to be stumped. i can tell you wat it look like it was at the back of the thottle housing there was a round thing that look like a really old dv or maybe a fuel reg but not sure put a t-pice in to that line, we did try a couple of other ones but didn't get anything.

Willbo01 - I take it you connected the DV into the traditional location between the turbo and the Intercooler?

Also, the pipe that comes the DC should be fitted after the throttle body i.e. on the engine side of the throttle body.

You should avoid using the fuel pressure regulator pipe at all costs! I would humbly recommend leaving that well alone.

Wilbo - YOu may finds that the item you tapped into was infact the EGR valve (only on Uk supplied vehicles and looks similar to a dump valve or fuel pressure regulator. http://www.gtfours.co.uk/pics/egr/egr.jpg linky from gtfours website courtesy of Kris :-) ) IIRC this takes a vacuum feed from some of the ports on top of the throttle body and not after the throttle plate.

IMHO if you have a ST185 tap into the turbo pressure sensor vacuum line for the dump valve.

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU OWN A ST205 THOUGH! the ST205 uses the sensor to determnine fuelling.

And to add a little bit more spam: http://www.turbocelica.nl/how2bov.htm

In the pic on the bottom of that page you see the 8 mm vac point on the side of your TB, works well!

ooh yes - forgot about teh big 8mm jobbie on the ST185. Apparently this will provide a better and more accurate signal as it is a larger bore pipe.
