Hi all Sadlebag here, i have a yellow st205 wrc and i spoke to some of you at japfest. (your much nicer than the guys on the OC. I had a bit of a hickup on the way to the show though as my turbo decided it didn't want to play anymore and ive blown the oil seal. Currently on the hunt for a new turbo but should have one soon enough but im thinking if it is a good idea to change the down pipe and exhaust at the same time. Thinking of going for a Japspeed 3" exhausts system with a 2.5" down pipe (trying to avoid the boost creep issues than can arise). Any thoughts on this? Also is it better to remove the turbo with the cat attached or is it easier to remove the turbo seperate from the cat, i figure if i am tacking and changing both of them them may come out easier as one? I'll get pictures of the beast up soon Thanks all. |

Not sure i like the mr bag but thanks all the same, see you live in fareham do you have a white ST205 i once had a little wave to?? @mixer cheer mate it appears its cat out first them, hate the small gaps to get some of the bolts off. Again is it best to do the same when putting it back on or can you pre fit the downpipe before hand? |

Welcome to the club! Your yellow peril looks very tidy. You don't mention what sort of mods, if any, you have, although I spot the OZ wheels (Chrono Evo?) Regarding your turbo and exhaust. Is the turbo standard or a hybrid? If you are having it rebuilt it would make a lot of sense to go for a hybrid spec OR if you are replacing it then you could go for something like the Turbo Technics S148 turbo which uses a bespoke turbine and doesn't suffer boost creep. They used to do a single wastegate version but I'm not sure if they are still available as the recent ones seem to be mainly twin wastegate designs. Not all turbos suffer boost creep, in addition to the TT S148 there is Owen Developments hybrids which I ran for a number of years with no problem. I used a Hayward & Scott 3" downpipe and front section mated to a Blitz NUR Spect Type R 75mm centre and back section. Personally I'm not a fan of artificially restricting the exhaust gas flow at the downpipe. Its a bit like buying a Ferrari and not taking it out of first gear! I'm currently running a Turbo Dynamics CT26 hybrid turbo on a standard ST205 without any problems but then you'd expect that as the cat is still fitted and the exhaust system is all OEM. |

Hi there, Nice to chat to you at JapFest. You car looks really nice, in the pictures it seems to be a deeper yellow than some other yellow ST205's I have seen. It's probably easier to get the turbo and cat out separately but as one job, the cat gone will make access to some of the bolts on the turbo easier. I'd try to find a S148 single waste gate as mentioned above as an ideal solution otherwise you pay's your money and takes your choice. If I was doing it all again I think I would either: Get a hybrid then leave the cat in and swap the exhaust or Get a hybrid and swap the exhaust for one with a sports cat in it. Given the recent MOT changes it looks like its going t overcome harder and harder to pass. I am planning having a sports cat fitted to my exhaust at some point soon. |

My car started out when I brought it as a standard car bar the MBC, it achieved 269 bhp like this. Since ive owned it I have done: Blitz filter with the blue samco piping. Mongoose exhaust system - spotted the cat was charcoal when I did this. Avance ecu (like a blitz) Tein lowering springs Oz chronos. I am thinking about a hybrid turbo but I'm only aiming for about 320-330 bhp. So feel it might be wasted money. I'll put pics up of all this when the computer has done its update. |

Hi, you can run a full 3" exhaust without problems, but once you go with a group A spec intercooler you should be carefull, i now hit the fuelcut in fall and spring and i use the oem boost controll who normally works with 0,9bar ![]() greetz |
