after a scorching hot day at silverstone over the weekend and 30 mins flat out the transmission was very hot, i could feel the heat through the gear stick, so what size coolers are people using on the gearbox coolers, just wondering what row coolers people use with what power

cheers

Do you have a UK or JDM car?

The UK car has a 10 row oil cooler, the JDM is half this size at 5 rows.

I have not had a problem with my gear oil temps even during hard summer trackdays with my UK car. Much more concern is the engine oil temps.

A 10 row cooler from a UK car or the equivalent from Mocal should do you fine.

mines a JDM with a standard 5 row at the moment, it went in gear fine and came out fine, just it was scorching hot through the stick and i like the car to be as reliable as possible.

cool, thats what i like to hear, i was thinking of a 10 row mocal cooler, just wondered what kind of size people where seeing ok temps with.

10 row mocal it is then! :)

Hi dale,

you are correct in that you should upgrade the gearbox oil cooler to at least UK spec..

however i can't work out how you would feel the heat of gearbox fluid via the shifter stick, that is remotely attached to the transmission via the shifter cables..

maybe you also felt radiated exhaust heat from the transmission tunnel area ?

could well be mate, i just meant that there was that much heat from the box and centre tunnel that i presumed the oil was heating up due to the small cooler that it has?

if you drive very far in the depths of winter you'll find the centre console is roasting!

It's probably a combination of exhaust and engine bay heat

But I imagine the uk czrs were upgraded due to delimiting so I have to conclude the JDM cooler is marginal
