Would it be possible to feed a diverter through the inlet side as a test?

If you could get a right angle or even better a swept curve it might encourage water further down the core. The same idea works for air in an IC so it has a chance!

What thermostat are you running?

2 0 5 i fully understand but it would be cheaper to order a nice pro alloy rad, re-engeneer tank is something i don't know jow to.
Triple pass is simple to add, it does not solve the issue, just bypass it

If triple pass solve the cooling i will probably spend a few hundreds on a good rad with a real water core (not an ebay one)

Kris, it's a 72 TRD one, 2000 miles (1,5 year old)

Hi,

where do you bleed the radiator, air must also can escape from the engine bay, possible this is not as good as before you mounted the alu underpanels

I bleed the rad on each tank.
At first filling i saw bubbles from swirlpot and both rad tank. Since that i see bubble from swirlpot at time and very rarely one from the cold tank of the rad.

About underpanel idea i have the same at first thought so unbolt one (the exhaust side) as i think it can be heat soak too, but it's badder. Even it's worse without i think i need more loover.

The other idea is i could have not enough air inlet in front of the car, the FMIC disturbs the flow too much or because my opening is narrower than before, perhaps an opening section in the upper bumper is needed like in the garage cruise ST185.

I don't think it's an airflow issue alone

From your description I understand that the bottom is cold when the top is hor. This would mean that as you think no water flows across the bottom. If it were ony airflow problem the whole radiator would be hot with small thermal gradient

I was thinking of something simple for a diverter test, just a flat piece of curved ally pushed into the inlet to deflect the water. Not high tech but it might make enough difference to show if the issue is just core related

I will try to try this

If i am right about the phenomenon i will have say 4 rows hot, then x cold and as soon as the plate ended 4 rows hot.

In case this test show the expected result i will follow the tri pass way (quick and easy fix)

whatever the results i will post

Ok so a bit of update as i have some answer now

I added some loover but temp are the same (so i had enough or this is not the issue), then decided to try 2 0 5 tips but hard to achieve so give the rad to MetalMachines and ask a 3 pass mod. He think i was silly and it can't affect that much  .
That's what i want so he did it and say he will offer me the mod "IF IT WORKS", and it works

This set up with the 3 pass mod on the rad
71/74 on the road (normal and nervous driving style)
75/80 after 7/10 min of abuse on the road
85/90 after 8/10 min of good lap time on a semi twisty track
91/94 from 10 to 27 min, 94 achieve shortly after i rev over 6900 but came back to 91/92 if i rev under this limit before shifting.

Oil temp never exceed 115° on this august track day (17°/22° ambiant)

Pic HP @6700, chocking the turbo after so set topRPM @7100.

Pics to follow ;)
