If you don't sell the shell you should try and find somewhere to put it in storage until you have the resources to finish it or move to the next stage. The guy who is building mine often has to stick part-built cars in containers until the owners have the funds to progress their projects.

Looking very nice!

Having a look at the cage now it really is quite similar to ours from the dashbar back! I guess it means we're both going along similar lines.

I can't wait to see it finished.

Yeah Ali I feel for you it always ends up spiralling out of control. Ours was just going to be a quick rebuild the engine and look what happened.....

The shell was finally completed yesterday and picked up for final assembly. I havent seen it yet but everyone seems to be WOW'd with it in Toyota Super White 2.

These pics were taken last week but I'll post up pics of the finished article soon.

Still think you should have triangulated the dash/front bar to the OEM strutbrace mounting but the whole thing does look pretty nice

Have all the other panels been test fitted/painted too

That would have been ideal, similar to the TTE shell/cage design. Unfortunately this option wasn't possible as the JEMS master cylinder/pedalbox assembly gets in the way. We went with the next best option which just clears the sidefeed plenum.

BTW the other panels will be painted the same colour

I'd guessed that bit

Just wondered if they had been painted yet and if any attempt to test fit was made prior to paint if so
I have a feeling that there might be fitment issues given the nature of what's going on panel wise

The mounting mechanism for the C-One front bumper has still to be finalised as has the splitter/undertray although the latter is less of an issue. Doors and front wings are OEM so no problems expected there. The C-One sills and rear bumper should fit fine as Muddy had them on his track toy previously. The carbon tailgate should be OK as its essentially a carbon clone of the OEM item. Details will be forthcoming over the next few weeks.

Oh,
Didn't realise you had skipped some of the GRP parts

Another update, this time it's the doors. As mentioned above, I have a set of GRP doors but decided that they would require quite a bit of extra work compared to using the OEM steel doors. The only downside with the OEM steel doors is the perennial problem of corrosion along the lower door seam. My track toy chassis was orignally a 1994 UK spec ST205WRC. I think it had a bit of minor accident damage prior to me acquiring it in 1997 as the drivers door seemed to have been re-skinned as part of a cheap insurance repair. We also found toughened glass fragments under the carpet which seemed to support the accident damage theory.

About three years after I bought the car the lower seam had deteriorated quite badly and the corrosion had actually spread around to the outside of the door panel. Rather than attempt a repair I replaced it with a complete new door. This came it a standard matt black primer colour so it was sparayed up in Storm Blue and colour matched to the rest of the paint. It was also waxoyled internally to try and protect the lower seam from corroding. There are a couple of small rectangular drain holes in the door to stop water accumulating but clearly they are only partially effective.

The passenger door hadn't been replaced so it had suffered the ravages of twelve years of British winters and salty roads. The results can be seen below. The one saving grace was that the corrosion hadn't spread to the outside panel so a repair was still an economic proposition.

The pics below tell their own story:
